Development of Life Skills
Life Skills Traning
Development of Daily Living and Life Skills is a service that encourages personal development, enhances independence and increases opportunities to participate in the community. Individuals can work on learning to use public transport, developing skills for community, and normal day-to-day living activities.
At Easecare, we can support you to develop the everyday life skills that increase independence and control. We provide resources, tools, support and inspiration to help people with disabilities build everyday skills.
Development of Life Skills That Help You Live Independently
Building everyday skills not only allows you to be more independent, but it also builds a greater sense of confidence and self-esteem. Learning new things is empowering and teaches us how to manage our lives independently with ease!
People with disabilities are often at a disadvantage in society. They face barriers that most people take for granted, like communication and navigating day to day activities that make it difficult for them to live independently and participate fully in their communities.
We, at Easecare, believe everyone should have the opportunity to be involved, included and connected. That’s why we work hard every day to provide opportunities for people living with disabilities through our development of daily living and life skills service.
What can the development of daily living and life skills do for you?
Everyone deserves to live as independently as they can, which is why at Easecare, we offer a range of skill development activities with our service. At Easecare, we know that no two disabilities are alike, as are no two people, which is why we can tailor our service to suit you and your needs.
Personal hygiene:
Hygiene is one of the hallmarks in daily living skills and learning to develop good personal hygiene can not only increase an individual’s confidence and self-esteem but is important to maintaining health.
Health and wellbeing:
Knowing how to keep yourself healthy and happy is vital to building more independence. This can include teaching the importance of nutrition, grocery shopping, planning and preparing healthy meals, and creating healthy weekly meal plans. Not only that, but we can help develop healthy habits around exercise and staying active.
Household management:
Household management is vital to increasing an individual’s independence. Easecare can help with money skills development and teach you the basics of household and laundry care.
Travel training:
At Easecare, we like to emphasise community engagement and independence. With travel training, an individual not only can keep themselves safe around transport, but it gives them a freedom they didn’t have before. From road safety, using public transport, and planning on how to get from A to B, travel training teaches everything an individual would need.
Communication:
Everybody deserves to feel included, and communication is a large part of connecting with others. Communication doesn’t come easy to everyone, which is why Easecare offers communication development skills. We can help develop the skills needed to form and maintain relationships and friends, as well as teach individuals how to communicate effectively while working in a group, visiting community centres, and ordering at restaurants.
In essence, the goal of working with individuals to develop daily living and life skills is to increase independence and quality of life, not only for the person themselves, but for family and carers.
